Message from the Board President
Dear YLWD Community,
These past months have been difficult for all of us. The way we live our daily lives has undoubtedly changed. Our daily routines have focused on keeping ourselves and the ones we love safe and healthy. Through the COVID-19 Crisis, we have become stronger. As a community, we have rallied together to support and assist those who need our help the most. Groups like PATH OC and Yorba Linda Food for Families have served many by delivering food to individuals and families who are in need. These challenges over the past months have not changed the desire in all of us to move forward.
Starting on June 1, the Yorba Linda Water District will reopen its lobby to the public. YLWD will adhere to the directives from the CDC, the State of California, and the County of Orange in opening our front doors. Our customers can be confident that they are being offered a safe and trusted place to conduct their business. Around the District, our employees will continue to utilize social distancing and adhere to the directives while working on the District’s $1 billion dollar infrastructure. While it is true that many things have changed since COVID-19, one thing that has not is our continued commitment to you to make your water and sewer service safe and reliable.
Phil Hawkins, Board President
Feature Articles
Yorba Linda Water District continues to be an active community partner amid COVID-19. With many public events canceled, the District shifted its outreach to providing bottled water to local non-profit organizations helping community members in need.
Last month, the District donated bottled water to the Yorba Linda Food for Families, a local food pantry serving families in need. With COVID-19 impacting many families’ ability to purchase needed groceries or meals, the food pantry is essential in bridging that gap on hunger.
The District also donated bottled water to the PATH organization which operates the Placentia Navigation Center in partnership with the City of Placentia. PATH provides beds for individuals experiencing homelessness in North Orange County. PATH administer services like housing navigation and health resources are available to all residents, with the ultimate goal of helping them find a permanent home.
Yorba Linda Water District is committed to being community partners as we navigate this unprecedented time together. If your local organization would like to request a donation of bottled water, please contact pio@ylwd.com.
Congratulations to the Finance Department on receiving its 10th consecutive Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association!
