Legislative Platform

The District works to influence legislation and funding opportunities in Sacramento and Washington, D.C. to promote fiscal stability, preserve local control, and support regulatory streamlining. This document serves as the guide by which the District actively engages with legislation through monitoring and communications activities. The YLWD Legislative Platform represents the District’s position on current or future issues that can potentially impact the District or its interests.

The Guiding Principles and Policy Statements allow District staff and consultants to promptly address legislative and regulatory issues without considering additional budget and legislative matters that may arise during the legislative session. Furthermore, the Legislative Platform is an important advocacy tool to present and deliver to elected officials who represent the YLWD service area locally and in Sacramento and Washington, D.C.

Sharing policy statements and positions with elected officials helps shape policy decisions and situates YLWD to be a leader in the community for legislative and regulatory topics.
