Message from the Board President
Dear YLWD Community,
Over the past month, we have seen dramatic changes in our world. Shelter in place has given us all a new appreciation for the many freedoms that we often take for granted. As Board President of Yorba Linda Water District, maintaining your water and sewer service at the highest level has been our top priority. During this pandemic, our team has never stopped working for our customers. This exceptional team has managed a district with over $1 billion in infrastructure and has done their job with excellence and integrity. It is our privilege to offer our customers an unparalleled service for their water and sewer services.
It has been important for us during this time to remain committed to serving our customers. YLWD staff has worked every day throughout the crisis and will continue to do so as we return to our new normal. Collection crews, meter readers, and all of our operations teams have monitored your water for safety and reliability and maintained all services for our customers. Although we did close our lobby for bill payments, customer service has been available over the phone or by email to answer any of your questions. Great service has always been part of the Yorba Linda Water District tradition and we take pride in knowing that even with a crisis like COVID-19, that great service has never wavered.
Finally, please know that we are here for you 24/7 and 365 days a year. You can reach us at (714) 701-3000 or on the web at
www.ylwd.com. Do not hesitate to reach out to us if we can be of service and as always, thank you for being a valued member of the YLWD community.

Feature Articles
During May, the Yorba Linda Water District will kick off its celebration of Water Awareness Month. Water Awareness Month is a time to show our appreciation for the water that fuels our economy and sustains our ecosystems. It also is intended to encourage all of us to be conscious of every precious drop. It is a great reminder that water is life to us all. To commemorate the event, YLWD will dedicate the entire month to water education. With over 100 years of history of providing safe and reliable water and sewer service, YLWD serves the communities of Placentia, Yorba Linda, Brea, Anaheim, and incorporated Orange County offering the highest quality service with great pride
To maintain its over $1 billion in infrastructure, YLWD relies on some of the latest technologies in the water industry. In the field, the District has shifted towards a streamlined process with the use of Geographic Information System (GIS) technology. This equipment allows field operation staff the ability to utilize the District’s mapping data on mobile devices to perform work orders on water meters to large water lines in the streets while providing real-time updates to different departments.
Our Water Productions Division has implemented technology that allows our water producers the ability to monitor water usage, water quality, and water supply with a combination of monitoring systems and the District’s new California Irrigation Management Information System (CIMIS) stations. The launch of the new CIMIS stations located at the Highland Reservoir and Camino de Bryant Reservoir provides the District will real-time local weather data to accurately shift water production based on demand and weather.
One of the most impressive pieces of equipment that assist in the safeguarding of our community is the helicopter hydrant. Designed in collaboration with Whaling Fire Line Equipment, the Orange County Fire Authority and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the helicopter hydrant is a 2,700-gallon capacity open-air water tank, located at the Santiago Reservoir. It provides first responders with a valuable resource for battling wildfires when time is one of the most critical resources. The helicopter hydrant allows helicopters to quickly fill their tanks in a location near the fire rather than traveling to the nearest lake or other nearby water sources.
We invite you to celebrate Water Awareness Month with us. Be on the lookout for resources on all of our social media pages throughout May.
