The Environmental Protection Agency has established, pursuant to the Safe Drinking Water Act, the Lead and Copper Rule testing program to identify cases that may result in high concentration of lead and copper. Studies have indicated that excessive lead in drinking water can affect young children and copper can cause stomach and intestinal distress for the general population.
