YLWD's Wells Fargo Heli-Hydrant & Landing Zone
win golden hub of innovation award
On May 8, 2024, Yorba Linda Water District’s (YLWD) President Trudi DesRoches and Vice President Tom Lindsey and staff attended the Association of California Cities, Orange County’s (ACC-OC) Leadership Summit and Golden Hub of Innovations Awards Ceremony. YLWD proudly received an award for the District’s Wells Fargo Heli-Hydrant and Landing Zone in the Community Safety and Resilience Excellence category.
Located near the edge of Chino Hills State Park, the Wells Fargo Heli-Hydrant is the second of its kind for Yorba Linda Water District after the successful installation of the District’s Marc MarcAntonio Heli-Hydrant. This innovative program helps local fire authorities save critical time needed to fight wildfires more efficiently by offering a strategically placed, pilot-operated water source that can fill in just a few minutes. Additionally, the Heli-Hydrants allow helicopter pilots to access water independently through remote operation technology.
Heli-Hydrants are invaluable public safety infrastructure that offers YLWD customers and Orange County residents a game-changing way to safeguard life, property, and the environment on behalf of the greater community.
