On March 27, 2024, YLWD hosted Mayor Tara Campbell’s Young Civic Leaders Academy! Joined by Councilwoman Janice Lim, local high school students were given a tour of YLWD’s PFAS Water Treatment Plant to learn about where we get our water from, how we treat our water, and how water is moved throughout our service area. After the tour, students participated in a Career Roundtable featuring YLWD staff from various departments, such as Accounting, Engineering, Production, and Public Affairs, where staff members shared their career journey, why they are passionate about water, and what they love most about being a public servant.
These Young Civic Leaders left feeling inspired and enthusiastic about the many rewarding careers the water industry has to offer. We are excited to see the impact these students will make in their community!
