YLWD Hosts Councilwoman Tara Campbell's Fall 2025 Young Civic Leaders Academy

On Wednesday, October 8, YLWD hosted Councilwoman Tara Campbell’s Young Civic Leaders Academy, along with Mayor Janice Lim.

Nineteen enthusiastic local high school students with aspirations in public service were welcomed by YLWD Board Directors Brett R. Barbre, Trudi DesRoches, and General Manager Mark Toy. The students received an insightful overview of YLWD operations and enjoyed a guided tour of our PFAS Water Treatment Plant, learning about our groundwater source, treatment process, and the distribution of water throughout our service area.

Following the tour, students participated in engaging round table discussions with our YLWD Water Professionals from various departments including Finance, Engineering/GIS, Production, Safety, and Public Affairs. Staff members shared their career paths, their passion for water, and the joy they find in serving the public, along with some valuable career advice.

From Young Civic Leaders to official YLWD Water Ambassadors, these students are set to make a significant impact in our community and have the brightest futures ahead!
