Directors’ Compensation​

Members are compensated $150 per day for each day’s attendance at meetings of the Board of Directors and other meetings attended at the request of the Board.  Compensation for any type of service cannot exceed 10 days in any calendar month.

*The General Manager’s salary is set by the Board of Directors. Amounts listed for the base salary of other Management Staff come from the Salary Schedule contained in the Unrepresented Employees Classifications and Pay Plan for Management Employees.  

Benefits

Employer-paid benefits for management employees include 40 hours of paid management leave, auto allowance (unless provided with a District vehicle), insurance (health, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and LTD), EAP, and CalPERS.

The District covers the cost of all premiums for employees and their eligible dependents for health, dental, and vision coverage.  The District’s portion for medical, dental, and vision coverage can cover up to $2,964.23 per employee, per month (depending on dependent coverage).  The District also provides Group Life and AD&D insurance in the amount of one times the employee’s basic annual salary up to a maximum of $ 200,000 and Long Term Disability Insurance.  Employees are covered by an employee assistance program (EAP) at a cost of $2.25 per employee, per month.  Board members are not eligible for LTD or EAP coverage.

The District participates in a defined benefit retirement plan through CalPERS.  The benefits under this plan will vary based on age, years of service, and final compensation at the time of retirement.  Retirement formulas vary:

  • Tier 1 – 2.0% @ 55, 7% Employee Contribution (“Classic members” hired prior to January 26, 2012.)
  • Tier 2 – 2.0% @ 60, 7% Employee Contribution (“Classic members” hired on or after January 26, 2012.)
  • Tier 3 – 2.0% @ 62, 7.75% Employee Contribution (“New members” hired on or after January 1, 2013.)
 

The District also provides tuition reimbursement, a voluntary flexible spending account, and matches up to 2% of an employee’s gross biweekly pay into a 401a defined contribution plan for all employees.

Vacation days for all full-time employees (including management) are accrued at the following rates:

  • Up to 5 years of service – 3.077 hours per pay period (80 hours per year)
  • 5 but less than 10 years of service – 4.615 hours per pay period (120 hours per year)
  • 10 but less than 15 years of service – 5.384 hours per pay period (140 hours per year)
  • 15 but less than 20 years of service — 6.153 hours per pay period (160 hours per year)
  • 20+ years of service – 6.922 hours per pay period (180 hours per year)

 

Sick Leave accrues at a rate of 3.70 hours per pay period. There are 26 pay periods per year.
