On Wednesday, March 11, YLWD hosted Councilwoman Tara Campbell’s Young Civic Leaders Academy, where 20 students from the Placentia-Yorba Linda School District learned how safe, reliable drinking water is delivered to their homes and businesses.
Students received a guided tour from YLWD’s Chief Water Systems Operator, Todd Colvin, who covered how the District’s J. Wayne Miller, Ph.D. Water Treatment Plant removes harmful chemicals like PFAS out of the water. Students also participated in a roundtable discussion with YLWD staff from various departments, including Customer Service, Engineering, GIS, Production/SCADA, and Public Affairs. The YLWD Team shared their career journeys, how they entered the water industry, and the value of civic service.
For several years, YLWD has proudly hosted the Young Civic Leaders Academy and remains committed to inspiring the next generation to pursue rewarding careers in the water industry. Interested in participating in an educational tour? Contact Public Affairs at 714-701-3000 or email us at pio@ylwd.com.
