SAFE and RELIABLE
INFRASTRUCTURE

Providing reliable water and sewer services to customers throughout the YLWD service area requires a complex infrastructure that includes facilities, equipment, and miles of pipeline. In accordance with sound asset management planning, the District’s Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) identifies and prioritizes the construction projects that are required over the next five years. Updates are posted regularly on active construction projects. Click on the projects listed below for specific information.

Project Description

District staff identified a leak in an 8-inch Cement-Mortar Lined and Coated (CML&C) steel waterline spanning between Blue Ridge Drive and Castle Bend Way. The 1990 waterline is being rehabilitated by installing approximately 300 feet of Flexible Fabric Reinforced Pipe Rehabilitation (FFRP) inside the existing CML&C. This trenchless technology minimizes ground disturbances at the project site and reduces the time to complete rehabilitation.

Project Description

The District’s Lakeview Reservoir Site is experiencing ground movement in the slopes adjacent to the reservoir. The District’s geotechnical consultant has been monitoring the ground movements for the past five years using different instruments and has indicated that the reservoir itself is not moving. The south side of the reservoir slope exhibits the most significant movement, indicating a potential shallow slope failure where pavement cracking is extensive. This project includes the injection of polyurethane into the soil in a 112-foot x 8-foot area.
