On Wednesday, March 19, YLWD had the pleasure of hosting Councilwoman Tara Campbell’s Young Civic Leaders Academy! Eight local middle and high school students were joined by and Councilwoman Tara Campbell and Yorba Linda Mayor Janice Lim, who participated in a presentation and guided tour from one of YLWD’s Plant Operators who walked students through our PFAS Water Treatment Plant. Students participated in a Q&A, engaging with YLWD staff from various departments including Customer Service, Engineering/GIS, Production, and Public Affairs. Staff members shared their career journeys, their passion for water, insights into what they enjoy most about serving the public, and some helpful career tips! Students were then taken on a tour of our treatment plant, where they learned about the source of our water, the treatment process, and how water is distributed throughout our service area.

These Young Civic Leaders left feeling motivated and excited about the rewarding career opportunities available in the water industry. We look forward to witnessing the positive impact these students will have in their community!
