The Yorba Linda Water District (YLWD) values our customers for their water-saving efforts this summer. Our community has a proud history of effective water conservation, especially during periods of drought.
Recently, the State Water Resources Control Board adopted the Making Conservation a California Way of Life regulation, implementing Assembly Bill 1668 and Senate Bill 606, signed into law in 2018. The new regulation aims to promote long-term water efficiency to address climate change and more frequent droughts in California, by restricting water usage throughout the state by setting new, permanent water use budgets (Urban Water Use Objective) for water providers like YLWD.
It’s important to understand that individual households or businesses are not obligated to meet the urban water use objective, rather, it is YLWD’s duty to adhere to it. YLWD customers have already made great strides in using water wisely, which has positioned the District to meet the regulation’s Urban Water Use Objective. YLWD will continue to provide updates on the regulation’s implementation. Rest assured, YLWD is dedicated to advocating for our customers to ensure that the community’s water conservation efforts and investments in local water sources are recognized.
