YLWD Participates in OCWD's Children's Water Education Festival

On April 23-24, YLWD was a featured presenter at Orange County Water District’s Children’s Water Education Festival and engaged with over 400 third through fifth grade students at Oak Canyon Park.

As the largest event of its kind in the nation, the Festival featured 60 presentations and activities led by cities, water agencies, and organizations such as Disneyland Resort, the California Department of Water Resources, Santa Ana Zoo, Ocean Institute, and more. Approximately 6,000 students from across Orange County participated in interactive, hands-on water-education activities!

The students who visited YLWD’s booth learned about the water cycle through an interactive display, followed by a build-your-own water cycle keychain activity, with each bead representing an important step in the journey of a water molecule.

OCWD’s award-winning Children’s Water Education Festival gives students the opportunity to learn about local water issues, the environment, and promotes a deeper understanding of water through STEAM/STEM-aligned education. Since its creation, over 160,000 Orange County students have attended the Festival. YLWD was grateful to participate in this educational event and commends the OCWD team for putting on a successful event!
