On April 23-24, for the first time, YLWD was a featured presenter in the Orange County Water District’s Children’s Water Education Festival, engaging with 400 students in our booth at Oak Canyon Park. Over 50 booths and hundreds of presenters inspired and educated over 6,000 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders about the importance of water while aligning with state curriculum. Classes who signed up for YLWD’s booth learned about the water cycle through an interactive display and build-your-own key chains with beads that represent each important step in the journey of a water molecule.

On Wednesday, March 19, YLWD had the pleasure of hosting Councilwoman Tara Campbell’s Young Civic Leaders Academy! Eight local middle and high school students were joined by Councilwoman Tara Campbell and Yorba Linda Mayor Janice Lim, who enjoyed a presentation and guided tour from one of YLWD’s Plant Operators who walked students through our PFAS Water Treatment Plant.

YLWD welcomed members of the delegation from Yeoju, South Korea on Wednesday, February 5th. During the visit, the delegation stopped by YLWD’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Room and took a guided tour of our PFAS Water Treatment Plant, where YLWD’s talented Chief Water Systems Operator pointed out the process of how PFAS is removed out of our groundwater.

YLWD is proud to announce that it has been selected to receive $248,994 from the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES). YLWD submitted its proposal to the State & Local Cybersecurity Grants (SLCGP) for Local & Tribal Governments Program (SL Program), as part of its commitment to safeguarding sensitive data and ensuring the resilience of our District’s operations technology against potential cyber disruptions and attacks.
